Born in St. John's Newfoundland on November 3, 1959, Alan is best known for his multi-octave vocal range and dynamic song endings. By trade he is an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter, Master Joiner and Cabinet Maker which gives him his livelihood.
Alan was introduced to music on stage for the first time at a school Christmas Concert at the age of five. Continuing to sing at school and church concerts, weddings and funerals, he became lead vocalist in the band called "Rockin' Cheer" out of St. John's, Newfoundland at the age of 13. In 1975, at the age of 16, he won First Place in the Voice of the Common Man (V.O.C.M.) Talent Search, St. John's Newfoundland.
In 1984, after moving to Nova Scotia on July 22, 1982, Alan started his own band called "Hush" and became the band's lead vocalist. Proud to call the Annapolis Valley his home, Alan went on to win several more talent searches over the years including First Place Winner in the Provincial Talent Search in Truro, Nova Scotia in 1995 which gave him an all expense paid trip to the CCMAs in Hamilton, Ontario. More recently, in 2014, he won First Place at Paddy's Irish Pub in the Danny Boy Sing Off in Kentville, Nova Scotia.
Alan has made several television appearances on such venues as Christmas Daddies and Breakfast Television, Halifax, Nova Scotia and receives radio air play through V.O.C.M. St. John's, Newfoundland, A.V.R., Kentville, Seaside FM, Dartmouth, and throughout Europe.
Besides performing on the Nashville stage on several occasions in 1995, Alan sang at the Nova Scotia Country Music Awards in Little Nashville, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1996. Present day, he can be seen around our beautiful province in such places as Port George, Fox Mountain Country Festival, and Berwick Gala Days to name only a few.
Alan has several CDs to his credit all of which were produced at Ocean Sounds Production, in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia.
