Recently retired from teaching full time our NSCMHF Inductee Kimberley Holmes rarely stops! She is a very active ‘new’ senior who, with keyboard and fiddle, just goes from one event to the next!
Throughout the year, Kimberley continues to host a monthly fiddle jam in Carroll’s Corner as a fundraiser for the Maritime Fiddle Festival. This event is the first Sunday of the month and all are welcomed at the community hall at 9 Milford Road, Carroll’s Corner.
Since June, Kimberley has been playing at Peggy’s Cove, at Margaret’s Café. Playing solo fiddle Kimberley says it’s one of the best gigs she’s ever had! She loves the opportunity to meet people from all over the world here in Nova Scotia’s iconic village of Peggy’s Cove. Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame is guaranteed that Kimberley is a wonderful ambassador for our province!
Kimberley has been busy this summer playing exclusively with PEI fiddler Richard Wood in Stanley Bridge as well as other locations on Prince Edward Island. They both, along with other musicians, travelled to the Shetland Island Folk Festival this summer. On October 30th you can catch Kimberley, Richard Wood and Skip Holmes in concert at Immanuel Baptist Church in Truro.
Kimberley continues to do some teaching, during her ‘retirement’ at the Scotia Suzuki School of Music in Halifax.
October 23-26 Kimberley is flying to Edmonton to take part in the North America Fiddle Convention where she will teach two piano workshops, and take part in fiddle workshops.
As you can easily see, there’s no slowing down this well-sought after musician! Where in the world will Kimberley show up next is anyone’s guess!
