Inducted in 2017

stantaylorA full time professional musician and vocalist for the past 60 years, Stan Taylor has performed in numerous stage shows throughout Canada and the United States.

He was born in Truro Nova Scotia and at a very young age his family moved to Yarmouth. As a teenager, Stan learned to play several musical instruments. Singing was a natural gift for him. As a young man he moved to Kitchener, Ontario, where he continued to be active as a professional musician and vocalist throughout Ontario, Quebec, Vermont and upper New York State, in both country and bluegrass genres. In the early 1970s, after moving his family back to Nova Scotia, Stan became a regular member of Countrytime, a weekly CBC National TV program. In 1975 he started his own band called Chapter 9 and began performing throughout the Maritimes and the West Coast of Canada.

Stan released several CD's while living in Ontario and New Brunswick. In the 1970's, while with the Hickory's band, Stan was a part of several LPs which were recorded in Halifax. At that time he also cut a single recording called "Memories of a Country Boy".

In 2012, Stan was honoured as a distinguished member into the Miramichi Traditional Country Music Hall of Fame and as a Lifetime Country Musician with a Barn Dance Pioneer Award from the Barn Dance Historical Society and Entertainment Museum of New Brunswick. He was inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009 and has lived in New Brunswick since 1988.

His unique vocals and gifted musical talents have left an everlasting impression on all who worked with him during his career and also with anyone who heard him perform. To quote his daughter, Brenda: "Country music is in his bones and blood".
