Paul Kennedy was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and started his radio career at CJLS Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1968. For the next twenty-eight years he dedicated himself to Country Music Radio including twenty years spent at CHFX Halifax on-air and as music director. Paul was also a broadcaster in Amherst, Saint John, and Bathurst. Presently he is a radio personality on Seaside FM in Eastern Passage.
Paul has interviewed many of county’s biggest stars, such as, Marty Robbins, Whalen Jennings, George Strait, Reba and Keith Urban, and Canadian artists from Hank Snow to Shania Twain. Paul takes great pride in promoting many of Canada’s finest artists over the years. His first interview was with Anne Murray in Yarmouth a year or so before her international fame.
Paul formed his own company in the mid nineteen nineties; “Kennedy Artist Promotions” to further his work covering Canadian Artist’s achievements, including reporting for national radio programs such as “Today’s Country”. He was a country radio promotor- tracker for independent artists between 1998 and 2017.
Paul was a sough after feature-writer for publications such as; “The Halifax Daily News”, “Country Wave”, “Halifax Chronical Herald”, and for twenty five years for “Country Music News” in Ottawa with his “East Coast Country” column. Paul won the Canadian Country Music Association “Music Director of the Year – Major Market” award, five times, and captured an “On-air Personality” award on three occasions.
He is most proud to have attended and reported from “Canadian Country Music Week” for twenty four consecutive years. Paul was thrilled to be elected into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005 in Calgary.
