Vocalist, Gordon Wesley Giles was born and raised in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.  Known by everyone as Gordie, he picked up a guitar and began his musical career at age eight.  Throughout his elementary and high school years, Gordie was a part of various choirs and ukulele groups, and played a large part in organizing school concert and coffee houses.

At sixteen he and three friends formed their first band; “Freedom Road”, and by age nineteen he joined “Maritime Express”, a local dance and show band.  For the next eleven years Maritime Express played weekends at community halls, campgrounds, Legions, fire halls and private clubs throughout the province.

Over the years Gordie has participated in many country talent shows including “The Rodeo Country Idle Show” consistently placing in the top-ten.

In 1989, Gordie met Joyce Seamone, and together they formed the band known today as “Total Country”. Gordie became Joyce’s lead male vocalist and front man, which lead to trips to Ontario performing at “Country Music Reunion” in Lindsay, and the “Apple Country Jamboree” in Colburn. The band also performed in the grand opening of the “Hank Snow Museum” in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

In 1996, 1997, and again in 1999, Gordie toured overseas with “Total Country” in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.  He was privileged to perform at International country music festivals with other artists from around the world.

Back at home, “Total Country” was the house band at “fox Mountain Country Music Festival” in Aylesford for fifteen years.

Gordie has been involved with “The Hank Snow Tribute” consistently for thirty one years. He has had the pleasure of meeting and playing with such greats as Kayton Roberts and Roger Carroll of the famed “Rainbow Ranch Boys”, Lisa Brokop, Norm Post, Diane Lee, Paul Webber, Farmers Daughter, Ray Legere, 2Country4Nashville, Jimmy Rogers Snow, George Hamilton 4th and Caroll Baker.

Gordie is truly a dependable musician and vocalist, stagehand and often sound man too.  Whether he is on stage in front of thousands, at an intimate house concert, or just at his camper in Pugwash playing his guitar and singing with family and friends, Gordie continues to enjoy every minute of his fifty four year country music journey.  He has no plans on giving it up any time soon.
