dougbellDoug Bell started his musical career at the age of 12 by taking a few guitar lessons which encouraged him to continue to play and to sing. He later learned to play a fiddle which today he says he plays "just for the fun of it".

A very popular entertainer, Doug has been involved in music for over 65 years. Early in his musical career, he could be seen and heard at many clubs and halls around the Maritimes. Many of his public appearances were around the Halifax and Dartmouth area at the local Bars and at Jamborees. Today Doug continues to enjoy playing and singing at benefit shows and concerts.

A songwriter in his own right, Doug is best known for his recording of "Walkin' The Streets" from his album Walkin' The Streets. He has also recorded two other albums of his own compositions entitled: Doug Bell and The Country Drifters and Doug Bell and The Goldstrikers. These albums included such songs as You're My Baby Tonight, Not For Just a Moment, This Is The End and Instead of Comin' Home, to name only a few.

In the mid 1970's Doug appeared on CBC's TV Country Time, CBC TV Gazette and Sackville Radio Station. He also appeared on Owen Davis Country Radio and was a radio host for two years on CHFX, Halifax in the early to mid 1970's.

Doug feels honoured to have been the opening act for American artists such as Barbara Mandrell, Tom T. Hall and Roy Drusky and has performed with Anne Murray and Karen Oxley.
