George was born and raised in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. In 2004, his wife Jennifer persuaded him to audition for U.S.A Network's "Nash ville Star" - an internationally televised performance competition similar to the "American Idol" format. He showed up, wowed the worldwide audiences and nearly won the entire contest. The rest is history punctuated by industry accolades, achievements and sustained success.
Since catapulting onto the Canadian Country music scene, George has released eight studio recorded albums, including the celebrated 'Decade of Hits' in 2014; released 26 hit radio singles and has been recognized as the most played Canadian Artist at Canadian Country radio. He's also one of the most recognizable and requested stars on CMT (Country Music Television). His music videos garner hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube and he has won multiple Juno, East Coast Music Awards, Canadian Country Music Awards including "Humanitarian of the Year Award" for his philanthropic endeavors, as well as awarded 4 certified gold records for album sales.
George is currently writing and recording new tracks for his ninth studio album (set for release in late fall 2015 or early 2016) and the buzz in the music industry predicts it to be one of the best albums of his music career.
George Longard was raised on country music in Nova Scotia, Canada. Before the advent of television, in the small village of Bayside where he grew up, each evening almost every living room would come alive with the sweet sounds of fiddle and guitar music. His Mo1n & Dad, his sisters and George performed regularly at the local community halls.
Early into his singing career, he was invited to entertain on one of the radio stations in Halifax Nova Scotia, about twenty miles from Bayside. From there he went on to make appearances with C.B.C. Television on the Don Messer Show, a very popular Sunday night Variety Show that featured Don and his unique style of Down East fiddle playing. This show drew a television audience of around ten million people.
Throughout his life, George has been singing and playing guitar on stage and in clubs and enjoying every moment.
Over 100 of his many recordings features a duo of George and his good buddy the legendary Tex Emery, on steel guitar. Tex and he have laughed their way through many a recording session bouncing off of each other's one liners.
Each year George looks forward to perf arming at the annual Hank Snow Tribute, a Country Music Extravaganza, held in Nova Scotia, Hank's birthplace. George feels that it is truly a pleasure to have had the opportunity to perform with great Nash ville artists such as Kayton Roberts and Roger Carroll, Hank's own Rainbow Ranch Boys.
Hal got his musical start in his first band at the young age of 14, and earned $1. 75 for his efforts, to which he said, "That is what I want to do when I grow up!" Since those early days in the 60s, he has played for crowds young and old alike, and he shows no sign of slowing down, after recording 14 full length albums, 1 3 singles, 14 International, National and Regional Awards, and 4 Videos. Hal toured with his country styled Hired Hand Band for 18 years throughout much of Canada. His son Ryan, was his drummer for the last 10 months of their musical journey, and Rick Stevens was his bassist for over 10 years. They were a great power trio combination, which earned them many accolades along the way.
He has performed in countries like USA, Argentina, Sweden, Luxembourg, France, England, Belgium, Australia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Norway, Italy, Hungary, Cruise Ships in the Caribbean and The Mediterranean. Hal's love of good ale Rock 'N' Roll, Country, and Folk is what keeps his spirit young, and plans on keepin' on truckin' for a long time to come!
